How to Use the Cable Railing Estimator

Getting an estimate is simple — just fill in the details of your project:

  • Perimeter Length → Measure the full outside length where railing is needed.

  • Stair Openings → Subtract any breaks for egress (like stairs or gates) where railing isn’t required.

  • Stair Railing Length → Enter the total length of your stairs. Remember to double this number if you need railing on both sides.

  • Number of Corners → Count all inside and outside corners in your layout.

  • Post Spacing → Choose your preferred spacing (4 ft, 6 ft, or 8 ft). For stairs, spacing is automatically set to 4 ft for safety.

  • Cable Type → Pick your cable size and finish. Pricing per foot is included.

  • Post Height → Select 36" (standard) or 42" (extra height). Choosing 42" adds 15% to cover the taller posts and extra materials.

  • Hand Rail--- Select from IPE, Teak, or powder coated aluminum.

  • Labor--- Is not included for installation, please contact us for a custom quote.

Once you enter your details, the tool will instantly show your estimated project cost along with the number of posts required.

Please note that the estimator is budgetary estimate only, your decks specific requirements may effect the actual cost. For a detailed quote please contact us at
